The Aspiration Of The Readymade
My work explores the transformation of familiar domestic objects, reimagining the ceramic artifacts of middle-class homes through a working-class lens. By hand-painting ready-made ceramics, I alter their surfaces to challenge notions of class, taste, and tradition. These interventions playfully subvert the original intent of the objects, creating a dialogue between aspiration and authenticity. Each piece becomes a reworked narrative, blending the aesthetics of accessibility with the symbolic weight of the everyday. Through this process, I invite viewers to reconsider the cultural significance of the commonplace and its role in shaping identity.
